Story point

A story point is a relative unit of size, capturing effort, complexity and uncertainty together, usually on the Fibonacci scale (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13).

Points work because humans estimate by comparison far better than in absolute terms. 'Is this bigger than the login form?' gets consistent answers where 'how many hours?' gets optimism.

There is deliberately no hours conversion. If a stakeholder needs a date, use velocity: forty points of backlog at a velocity of twenty is about two sprints.

In Flocci Projects

Every issue has an optional story-point field; points sum live while scoping a sprint and feed the velocity calculation when the sprint completes.
