Daily standup
A daily standup is a short team meeting — fifteen minutes or less — to coordinate the day's work and surface blockers.
The functional version walks the board right to left, discussing the cards closest to done first, so attention pulls work over the line instead of starting more. The dysfunctional version goes round the room, which optimises for sounding busy and grows linearly with headcount.
For distributed teams, one written check-in per person against the board captures most of the value and leaves a searchable record, without forcing a time-zone compromise on anyone.
