Scrum
Scrum is an agile framework built on fixed-length sprints, three accountabilities (product owner, scrum master, developers) and a cycle of planning, review and retrospective.
Scrum's core mechanism is the timebox: a fixed period with a fixed scope produces a forecast, and the forecast is what velocity refines over time. Everything else in the framework exists to protect that timebox or to learn from it.
Its cost is ceremony — planning, review and retrospective every cycle — which pays off exactly when work is plannable and stakeholders need dates, and wastes time when work is genuinely interrupt-driven.
